After A Six Year Absence Big Bens Iconic Chimes Will Once Again Be Heard On Bbc Radio 4s Daily News Bulletins

Big Ben's Bongs to Return to BBC Radio 4

After a six-year absence, Big Ben's iconic chimes will once again be heard on BBC Radio 4's daily news bulletins.

The chimes will be broadcast twice a day, at the start of the 6 pm and 10 pm bulletins.

The UK's most famous chimes were first broadcast live by the BBC in 1924. However, in 2017, the bells were silenced for six years due to renovation work on the Elizabeth Tower, where Big Ben is housed.

The real bells of Big Ben have been replaced by a recording for the past six years. However, the BBC has now announced that the chimes will return to the airwaves from Monday, November 6th.

The sound of Big Ben's bongs is an integral part of British life. They are a reminder of our history and heritage, and they are a symbol of hope and renewal. The return of the chimes to BBC Radio 4 is a welcome sign that life is returning to normal after the challenges of the past few years.
